Striving for correct, healthy, performance-driven, versatility

"The only reason to breed dogs... is for the preservation and protection of the breed."   ~P. Hastings

The American Kennel Club is dedicated to

upholding the integrity of its Registry, promoting

the sport of purebred dogs and breeding for type and

function. Founded in 1884, the AKC and its affiliated

organizations advocate for the purebred dog as a family

companion, advances in canine health and well-being, work

to protect the rights of all dog owners and promote

responsible dog ownership.

The American Kennel Club®:

• Records the parentage of dogs, but is not itself

involved in the sale of dogs and cannot

guarantee the health and quality of dogs in its registry. (Health is the job of reputable breeders. NOT all AKC registered puppies are responsibly bred and not all AKC breeders are reputable. The AKC is only a registering body and does not denote a quality, well-bred dog)

• Sponsors over 15,000 dog competitions each year held

by licensed and member clubs. Only dog clubs may be

AKC®  members.

• Supports and promotes the sport of purebred dogs.

****Just because your dog is registered to the AKC does not dictate that the parents are healthy representatives of the breed, or should be bred. ANYONE can slap two dogs together and make puppies... the AKC does not care if they are healthy or if they are siblings!
